African Recycled Labeled Metal Can Contemporary Art Sculpture
$258.00
Traditionally, all children in Africa make their own toys out of found materials: discarded cans, wire, old sandals, tires, etc. Following this long-standing tradition modern artists in Mali are creating art in all kinds of forms. This one of a kind statue was made by such an artist, confirming the importance of contemporary art in modern Africa.
This man is a Fulani weaver, using a traditional double heddle dragstone loom. He is identified by the traditional Fulani hat. The warp is represented raised instead of stretched out straight in front of the weaver as it would be in a real loom.
