This small flexible deep basket, handwoven by the women of the Mina tribe in coastal Benin, are made of a very plentiful lowland grass from the swampy delta area of Benin. We have added an indigo cloth band to accent the beauty of this already exceptional basket. We got the indigo cloth from the Mossi women of Burkina Faso. We sell the full pieces of this cloth separately. This type of basket is as useful for us as they are for the people of Benin although we would be more likely to put a plant in them and they would use it to transport and store food items.
