This small flexible deep basket, handwoven by the women of the Mina tribe in coastal Benin, was made of the very plentiful lowland grass from the swampy delta area of Benin. We have added a strip of handwoven vintage Black Thai cloth from Viet Nam to accent the beauty of this already exceptional basket. This intricately woven cloth was made by the skilled  weavers of the Black Thai ethnic minority of Viet Nam. We sell full pieces of this cloth separately. This type of basket is as useful for us as they are for the people of Benin although we would be more likely to put a large plant in it and they would use it to transport and store food items.
