"Clamshell" shape baskets - Uganda
$59.00
This flexible deep basket, handwoven by the women of the Mina tribe in coastal Benin, was made of the very plentiful lowland grass from the swampy delta area of Benin. We have added a strip of handwoven indigo Tiv cloth from Nigeria to accent the beauty of this already exceptional basket. This unique, traditional cloth was made by skilled weavers in Benue State. We sell full pieces of this cloth separately. This type of basket is as useful for us as they are for the people of Benin although we would be more likely to put a large plant in it and they would use it to transport and store food items.
16 1/2" deep x 10" opening diameter at the top x 14" wide at the widest point.
