"Clamshell" shape baskets - Uganda
$59.00
These Batwa baskets are unlike any other African basket. The coiled grass is bound by dyed raffia to form this extraordinary basket. The Batwa - the Twa people, a “pygmy” people - live in the border area of southwestern Uganda, northwestern Rwanda and eastern Congo, in the area of the Ruwenzori Mountains, in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. They live among a native gorilla population just like we live among whitetail deer.
