One of the strongest faiths of the African people is reincarnation. The word reincarnate also implies a constant cycle of life. Therefore infertility is considered a detrimental curse, as it stops the cycle of rebirth.

To ensure healthy pregnancy, birth, and life, the Tiv people employ spiritual aids of mothers and children. The Tiv are a tribe in the Benue State area of Nigeria who believe the greatest role of a woman is to become pregnant, give birth and raise the children. Thus this figure is made to ensure the prosperity of the cycle of life.
