This vintage sculpture was used in Nigeria by Yoruba people to place spiritually significant items for the purposes of making an offering to the ancestors who inhabit the spirt world with the intention of entreating them to intervene in the lives of the supplicant to accomplish whatever purpose they feel they need to accomplish. This could be to improve their health or to obtain anything they feel they lack in their life.
