Vintage Goni Headrest of Tanzania
$396.00
The Baule are a group of people who reside in central Ivory Coast. This stool is made from a single, solid piece of heavy dense wood. Very low to the ground it's almost like sitting on the ground itself but it does lift a woman off the ground just enough so she's not on the dirt. Women often prepare food while sitting low to the ground which this stool affords. People in tribal, traditional African villages do not have table or counters for food preparation. Any traditional Baule household will have a large complement of such stools for everyone to use when they are there.
This large stool measures: 20 x 12 1/2 x 13" tall (51 x 32 x 33 cm)
