Vintage Fulani Indigo Textile "Wrapper" from Mali | 52 x 47"

This textile is hand spun and used by Fulani people in Mali, West Africa. After the base textile is woven of cotton thread the completed textile is then dyed using natural indigo dyes. The pattern is accompished using a resist technique. These textiles are referred to as "wrappers" since women wrap them around their waist as skirts.
This cloth is of the finest quality weave: tightes, heaviest, but it has a small hole in one band along the edge.
This textile measures 70 x 40 1/2" (178 x 103 cm)
