This long, heavy single strand, called an alagom, is unique to the Tuareg people of Niger. The cord is braided of many very thin strands of twisted leather, lending an extraordinary fineness to its quality. This strand can be worn by alone or can be used to string any of a wide range of pendants which is the way it is used in Niger. We sell several pendants, strung on these, separately on this site.
