This is a very unique one of a kind traditional necklace featuring a hand-carved wooden representation of a claw, ostensibly from a lion (but without killing any animal) strung on a twisted black leather cord. It would have been worn as a grigri, an amulet, for protective purposes, as well as personal adornment. It would undoubtedly have had, for the wearer, medicinal or spiritual value, to defend the wearer from whatever he or she may consider to be threatening to them. Objects of this type can be used as it was traditionally or its component parts can be extraordinary additions to modern jewelry creations.
