This is an old Hima (or Hema) container vase from Uganda. This beautiful Hima vessel was primarily used for storing liquids, which were most commonly milk. Making an object such as this is extremely time consuming, not only to get the symmetry and shape right, but primarily the length of time it takes to hollow out the center. Since this is an old object, the use of power tools was not an option. The container glistens in the light due to natural patina which almost shines the object with a protective layer. On the top of the vessel rests a handwoven top which was made to keep sunlight and foreign particles out of the liquid that is being stored inside. Every top is unique in color and design which makes it a perfect one of a kind decor object that will stand out in any modern room. This container measures 7.5" x 9"
