This is a very old pair of candelabra that were used in a religious shrine in a private household in Vietnam. It is the custom in every Vietnamese house, whether Buddhist or Catholic, to maintain a shrine. If the family is not very wealthy the shrine will be just a small table or a corner of their house. The wealthier they are, the more elaborate the shrine, up to a private temple or chapel in a separate room in their house, even a separate building on their property. This pair would have been incorporated in the shrine of one of the wealthier people.
Each candelabrum measures 18" at the highest point and 22" wide. (46 x 56 cm)
