These Batwa baskets feature raffia wrapped coils in a contemporary salmon/white ascending staircase design on a dark brown background. The Batwa - the Twa people, a “pygmy” people - live in the border area of southwestern Uganda, northwestern Rwanda and eastern Congo, in the area of the Ruwenzori Mountains, in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. They live among a native gorilla population just like we live among whitetail deer. 7 1/4” tall x 8 1/2” top diameter.
