African Recycled Labeled Metal Can Contemporary Art Sculpture
$258.00
Traditionally, all children in Africa make their own toys out of found materials: discarded cans, wire, old sandals, tires, etc. Following this long-standing tradition modern artists in Mali are creating art in all kinds of forms. This one of a kind statue was made by such an artist, confirming the importance of contemporary art in modern Africa.
This is a Dogon man, dancing a traditional dance, that of the Kanaga mask that he is wearing. His clothing is the traditional garb of that dance in northern Mali.
