To ensure healthy pregnancy, birth, and life, the Ashanti people employ spiritual aids of mothers and children. The Ashanti - aka Asante - the largest tribe in the Akan group inhabiting a large area of Ghana and Ivory Coast, believe the greatest role of a woman is to become pregnant, give birth and raise the children. Thus this figure is made to ensure the prosperity of the cycle of life.
