This flexible deep basket, handwoven by the women of the Mina tribe in coastal Benin, was made of the very plentiful lowland grass from the swampy delta area of Benin. We have added a strip of handwoven intricately designed vintage cloth to accent the beauty of this already exceptional basket. This cloth was made by the highly skilled weavers of the Black Thai people of Viet Nam. We sell full pieces of this cloth separately. This type of basket is as useful for us as they are for the people of Benin although we would be more likely to put a plant in it and they would use it to transport and store food items.
