Handwoven from coastal swampgrass in Benin, West Africa. These baskets serve multiple uses for the people of the swampy delta region of Benin and Togo. This basket is relatively small although some are even smaller; the majority are much larger. This one is of the most common type, undecorated, though the darker reeds incorporated into its weave serve as subtle accents. The diameter of the reeds of this basket is smaller so its weave is tighter, finer.

This basket is 9 7/8" tall with a 7" diameter opening.
