Headdresses of this genre are common and well known examples of Guro ritual culture. They are used by the Guro people of Ivory Coast in a ceremonial dance. The intracately carved wooden man is holding an antelope head with elongated neck and incorporating ram's horns which is attached to a basket then worn on the top of the dancer's head. The base has a restoration.
