Vintage Traditional Bogolan Mudcloth Mali African Textile | 65 x 43"
$257.99
This vintage, very well used, cloth is the real traditional Bambara "bogolanfini", popularly known as mudcloth, using the hand-painting technique which distinguishes genuine mudcloth. The term "mudcloth" derives from the unique substance used to produce the dye for this cloth, fermented mud. The basic cloth is a relatively loosely hand-woven cotton, using larger gauge handspun cotton which is widely grown in Mali.
This cloth shows ample evidence of its age and use, including a couple of stains acquired during use. It measures 65 x 43" (165 x 109 cm)
