Hmong Tribal Vietnamese Recycled Vintage Cloth Belt
This small textile panel is all hand woven, hand embroidered and hand appliquéd. Originally it was the collar of a Hmong woman's linen indigo jacket. When the jacket wore out, the collar was "recycled" into this belt. The detail of the embroidery is extremely fine; this quality of work is virtually impossible to find any more. We bought this many years ago on one of our first trips to Vietnam. We purchased it in Sa Pa, in the far northwest of Vietnam, close to the Chinese border, high in the foothills of the Himalayas.
This extraordinary textile measures 21" long (53 cm)
