Tiv Textile - Tortoise Shell Design
This textile is woven and dyed in Nigeria, by the Tiv people. Woven out of cotton and died from indigo dyes. This style of textile is what they call the "tortoise shell" variation, meant to replicate that of a tortoise shell. The entire textile is composed of many bands that were died separately, then sewn together, forming a larger textile. This is why it may seem that the patterns do not match up perfectly from band to band.
Since this textile was recently woven and not made for their traditional use, we cannot guarantee that this textile will not run if washed. We recommend dry cleaning methods to avoid running.
This textile measures 72" x 49" (183cm x 124cm)
