Most Africans have a strong sense of spirituality and their own connection with the environment. They celebrate and worship this spirituality through small shrines in their homes in which they incorporate objects that represent aspects of that relationship that are very personal to them, their family and their ancestry. The chameleon always represents adaptability and survival. This vintage chameleon figure was actually part of one of those shrines in someone's home in Mali for a very long time.
