This drum is a vintage hand-carved African instrument, made of wood adorned with masks of the Baule people. This drum is an extraordinary, original piece from Ivory Coast. It is an authentic drum, made only for use in ritual, tribal ceremonies. Perfect for collectors or those interested in African music, art and ethnographic artifacts. This ceremonial drum measures 33 1/4″ (84 cm) tall with the head measuring 8 1/4 x 8" (21 x 20 cm). It is in excellent condition in spite of its age. This was made for tribal use and was used often as evidenced by its patina. Now, it can certainly be modified for musical use but in its current state it is probably much more decorative than musical.
