Vintage Traditional Bogolan Mudcloth Mali African Textile | 58 x 33"
$297.99
This vintage, very well used, cloth is the real traditional Bambara "bogolanfini", popularly known as mudcloth, using the hand-painting technique which distinguishes genuine mudcloth. The term "mudcloth" derives from the unique substance used to produce the dye for this cloth, fermented mud. The basic cloth is a relatively loosely hand-woven cotton, using larger gauge handspun cotton which is widely grown in Mali.
Other than a few stray dye spots in the upper left corner this cloth is in excellent condition, considering its age. It measures 58 x 33" (147 x 84 cm)
