African Black Recycled Metal Fish Wall Ornament - Mali

These genuine, used sculptural objects are still commonly in use today by many people in central Togo and Benin. The Tamberma people of Togo, along the central western border of Togo and the Somba people, along the central eastern border of Benin, are close cousins. The ladders they use are shorter as they were made to access their thatch-covered adobe granaries which open on the top. Longer ones are used to reach the roof of a house. Many are also still in use among other tribal groups, most notably the Dogon of Mali, whose ladders are longer. We have these types as well. Those we carry are all among the most beautiful: the oldest, most used and with most patina.
