This fabric is handmade from vintage antique skirts that the Hmong people used for special occasions, re-purposed to create this stunning textile. The Hmong tribe is an ethnic group from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Finding a piece as symmetrical and wonderful as this one is quite rare since many different styles of skirts was required to create the finished product. The textile consists of sections of printed indigo batik, which are quite detailed. As well as orange sections with very intricate sewing patters. Both of which are constructed out of vintage skirts. Lastly, red streaming lines are noticeable in some sections to accent the indigo color and add a touch of complexity.
