Vintage Hmong Textile (82"x 65")
This fabric is handmade from vintage antique skirts that the Hmong people used for special occasions, re-purposed to create this stunning textile. The Hmong tribe is an ethnic group from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Finding a piece as symmetrical and wonderful as this one is quite rare since many different styles of skirts was required to create the finished product. The textile consists of sections of printed indigo batik, which is quite detailed. As well as violet sections that are a deep purple with very intricate sewing patters. Both of which are constructed out of vintage skirts. Lastly, blue streaming lines are noticeable in some sections to accent the indigo color and add a touch of complexity.
